MuDdushyanchi Aamti(Ladyfish curry)

 
This is a small fish and has scales on the  outer side. While cleaning one has  to take care of that.

Ingredients
3-4 ladyfishes(muDdushya)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chili powder
2-3 kokum/aamsule
salt to taste

Tempering
1-2 tsp oil
1/2 cup finely chopped onion

To be ground
1/2 cup of grated coconut
1-2 tsp of chopped onion
3-4 peppercorns

Method
  • Scrape the outer side of the fish. Cut off the head and tail. Take out the entrails from the cavity. Cut the gills. Wash under tap water.
  • Apply turmeric powder,red chili powder, salt and keep aside to marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  • Grind coconut,peppercorns and onion in a grinder to make a fine paste.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add chopped onion. Fry till it changes to light brown.
  • Add marinated fish pieces and toss. Add 1/2 cup warm water. Cook on low flame for 2-3 minutes.Add ground paste and stir well. Bring it to boil. Add salt stir well. Take off the heat.
  • Add  kokum/aamsule. Cover and keep aside for 5 minutes before serving.
  • Serve with steamed rice.

Note
Kokum/aamsule can be replaced by tamarind.

Tisarya(clams)masala

Masalychya tisarya
            Spicy clams

Ingredients
20-25 Tisarya (clams) (washed and halved)
1 tsp Malwani masala/dhane mirchi masala

To be roasted 1/2- 1 tsp of oil
2-3 cloves
3-4 peppercorns
1/2 inch cinnamon
1/2 tsp black cumin seeds(shahajire)
1 medium onion ( make it light brown)
1/4-1/2 cup freshly grated coconut or dry coconut (light brown)

To be ground
All roasted masala with 1-2 tsp tamarind paste,

Tempering
1/2 cup onion (finely chopped)
1 tsp oil
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp red chili powder



Method
  • Wash tisarya/clams in plenty of water. Cut them into halves. ( take the half with the flesh and discard the other half)
  • Roast all the masala/spices in oil and grind it along with the tamarind paste.
  • Heat oil in a pan and fry chopped onion in it.
  • Add tisarya/clams and  turmeric powder & red chili powder. Fry well. Add little water and let it cook.
  • When cooked, add ground masala paste and malvani masala powder.Adjust the consistency.(semisolid)
  • Add salt to taste.
  • Serve hot with chapati or bhakaree or steamed rice.
